Overview
Proteoglycan, one of glycoproteins, is a macromolecule consisting of a “core protein” with one or more covalently attached glycosaminoglycan chain(s) such as chondroitin sulfate. It exists in the extracellular matrix and on the cell surface in animals including human and plays an important role in maintaining the health of body tissue by forming complexes with hyaluronic acid and collagen fiber.
